Continuing Education Requirements
To renew, a licensee must have completed at least eight hours of continuing education; four hours must be learning how to perform the skills or services of your profession.
Cosmetologist
8 continuing education hours must be completed every 12/31 of the even years’ renewal date.
Cosmetology Instructor
Instructors must complete at least 4 hours of teaching methodology classes. 8 hours may be obtained through these hours and must be completed every 12/31 of the even years’ renewal date.
Esthetician
8 continuing education hours must be completed every 9/30 of the even years’ renewal date.
Esthetics Instructor
Instructors must complete at least 4 hours of teaching methodology classes. All 8 hours may be obtained through these hours and must be completed every 9/30 of the even years’ renewal date.
Are you an approved continuing education provider?
The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services Cosmetology and Esthetics Board does not approve CE Providers but requires continuing education hours for license renewal. Center of Attraction Hair Gallery’s education meets the requirements for continuing education hours.
How do I renew my cosmetology license?
You must submit a renewal application online.
Is anyone exempt from the continuing education requirement?
A Continuing Competency Waiver may be completed and submitted to the board.
Will you provide me with a certificate of completion?
Yes, you will be emailed a downloadable certificate of completion to maintain for your records.
Do I need to show my certificate to prove that I completed my continuing education hours?
Upon request by the Board, an applicant shall prove completion of required continuing education credits by submitting a certification of completion.
Will you report my completed hours to the board?
No, Licensees must maintain documentation of completed CE for three years and provide documentation to the board upon request.
